The 1925-S Peace Dollar (Buy on eBay) is one of the most conditionally challenging issues of the entire series. As discussed for some of the previous San Francisco issues, this issue suffers from predominantly weak strikes and excessive contact marks and abrasions which preclude higher mint state grades. Even some of the examples which have received a gem grade may have poor eye appeal due to weakness of strike or unattractive toning.

There are 248 1925 silver dollar for sale on Etsy, and they cost $39.45 on average. The most common 1925 silver dollar material is metal. The most popular color? Popular Types Of Silver Dollars. Silver dollar mintings include the Flowing Hair, Draped Bust, Seated Liberty, Morgan, and Peace designs. Perhaps the two most familiar coins for collectors, though, are the Morgan dollar and the Peace dollar. The prices for examples of this issue graded MS65 show a wide variance based on quality within the grade. Coins in NGC holders have sold for prices ranging from around $7,000 to $18,000. Coins in PCGS holders have sold for prices ranging from around $13,000 to $25,000. Coins selling for the highest prices tend to have sharper strikes and more attractive luster or toning.

1925 marked the third year in the Standing Liberty Quarter series that only the Philadelphia mint struck quarters. However, unlike 1916 and 1921, during which small mintages provided a tiny batch of coins that modern coin collectors will clamor to get their hands on, the 1925 Standing Liberty quarter is far more common, with a mintage of 12,280,000 pieces.
This common date is an affordable acquisition for nearly any coin collector, at around $9 to buy an example of that date in a grade of Good-4. Chance lotto. Standing Liberty quarters minted from 1916 through 1924 all had one thing in common: the date on the pedestal upon which Miss Liberty stands tended to wear off very quickly, due to its raised position on the coin. The recessed date proved to be a very good move for the United States Mint, as Standing Liberty quarters minted from 1925 on through the end of the series in 1930 had few issues concerning the date wearing away from the coins, even after many years of heavy circulation.
Those familiar with other areas of United States coin collecting may recognize a similar problem with Buffalo nickels, which also have a raised date.
